Introduction

The Department of NSS is a scheme executed by Central Govt. in all Indian Universities & also in Maharashtra. The Department was established since the establishment of the College and up till now about 9400 Volunteers have benefited from this NSS activity. The Volunteers will have to work for a minimum period of 120 hours and will receive a certificate on completion of NSS. Many of our Volunteers have participated in Sate level and National Level camps.

The Department of NSS organizes

1. Regular Program : No. of volunteers 200
2. Special Camp : No. of volunteers 100

Every year we select 200 volunteers for Regular
Program out of which 100 are permitted to participate in the Special
Camp organized for Rural as well as National Development.

Aims and Objectives of the Department of NSS

To understand the community in which they work.
To identify the needs and problems of the community and to find the appropriate solution to solve.
To develop a sense of social and civic responsibility.
To develop competence required for group living and sharing responsibilities.
To gain skills in mobilizing community participation.
To acquire leadership qualities and democratic attitude.
To develop capacity to meet emergencies and disasters.
To practice national integration.

In spite of the above activities our Volunteers undertake the following activities

Cleaning the surroundings, Tree Plantation, Help to the rural public for developing the healthy and hygienic atmosphere, Devoted work for ‘Gram Swachata Abhiyan, AIDS awareness, Pulse Polio vaccination, Leprosy testing, Earth-Quake relief funds, Anti Pollution campaigns etc.
A seven days camp is organized in the near by villages during which the activities like Village cleanness, Construction of Roads, Wells, Toilets, Sockpits , Irrigation projects, Play ground development and Social Awareness on various issues, Health, Hygiene, Save Daughter Child, Save Water Campaign, Anti Plastic Campaign, Anti Superstitions Campaign, Literacy, Blood Donation Campaign etc.
Also to get first hand knowledge to the people volunteers organizes the lectures of eminent personalities at the camp venue.
It also aims at developing confidence and leadership qualities among students. In short, it provides a platform for over all mind, body and soul development which is beneficial to students and society.
